This dataset presents selected Department of Social Services pensions and allowances data items included in the 22 November 2023 release of Data by region (DBR). This layer presents data by Statistical Areas Level 2 (SA2), 2021.

From 20 March 2020, JobSeeker Payment replaces Newstart Allowance as the main income support payment for recipients aged between 22 years to Age Pension qualification age who have capacity to work.

When analysing these statistics, care needs to be taken as time periods, definitions, methodologies, scope, and coverage can differ across collections. Some data values have been randomly adjusted or suppressed to avoid the release of confidential data. In some cases small cells have been randomly altered to zero. Care should be taken when interpreting cells with small numbers or zeros.
